bookshow July 23rd

Guests this week were Lesley Jones, Lydia Birch and Maggie Perkovic.
It was a fun, packed show. Books on review were Lesley Thomas - Dover Beach, Richard Hammonds on The Edge & Julian Fellowes - Past Imperfect. Plus we looked at the books nominated so far in our local survey 'IOS best read' being collated in Bourdeaux's.
We also asked for more volunteers to come on the show.

Talked about where we were when the men landed on the moon, 40 years ago, I can't remember where I watched it, can you? Shame about the controversy now surrounding it, claims that it was a fake, that it was filmed in a tv studio. One thing I read was that some of the people making these claims are known as'flat-earthers'(they believe that the earth is flat or only 6,000 years old....)

Lydia, a huge Stephanie Meyer fan found the Richard Hammond book amazing. I found one review which I had to read out, which was from someone who works with people with brain injury everyday. She was knocking the people who have knocked this book as she said it allows 'joe Bloggs' with a brain injury to realise they are not alone in their struggles, plus raised awareness amongst people who have no experience of it.
Maggies choice, Julian Fellowes, is one of Richard & Judy best read
