Review by Brian Lowen on show 18th March.
Another thriller featuring Jack Reacher – an ex military police tough guy who cuts through nests of bad guys like a lazer-guided Arnold Schwarzenegger – a thinking girl’s beefcake. A modern day Robin Hood.
Two small towns in Colordo – Hope and Despair. Between them nothing but 12 miles of empty road. Jack Reacher can’t find a ride on his trek across the USA, so he walks. When he gets to Despair all he wants is a cup of coffee. What he gets are four red neck deputies, a vagrancy charge and a trip back to the boundary line between the two towns.
Big mistake – they have picked on the wrong guy. Reacher is a big man and he is in good shape. No job, no address, no luggage. Nothing except bloody-minded curiosity. What are the secrets the locals seem determined to hide?
The scene of the action centres around a giant scrap metal recovery plant and with the help of the attractive female cop at the Hope police department he sets out on his investigation.
A good, fast paced thriller which will be enjoyed by all Jack Reacher fans.
