A rather strange
book this that delves into the realm of UFOs.
I have not read
any other books by this author so I do not know if this is the subject that he
specialises in.
Richard is a
photographer for the local paper and he goes with his reporter colleague, Simon
to visit a group of young people lying on a hillside, in the dark, waiting to
see an Unidentified Flying Object. Mysterious lights had been seen in this area
a few days previously.
Richard stays
there all night as he is attracted to a young girl named Maria who is there. He
gets chatting to her and asks to see her again when dawn breaks and they leave
the hill, not having seen any UFOs.
The friendship
blossoms and Maria moves in to Richards flat. He is in seventh heaven, living
with this beautiful girl and falls madly in love with her.
Then suddenly,
after three months of bliss, Maria disappears and Richard is distraught. He
goes looking for her, helped, rather half=heartedly, by his friend Simon, who
is having girl troubles of his own.
The rest of the
book is Richard searching for Maria. He visits a convention on UFOs that he
thought she was going to but has no luck in finding her. He eventually goes to
Oregon, USA, where he hears of a group of people expecting a visit from aliens
from another world, but all to no avail, nearly getting himself killed when he
gets involved with these strange people, when they find out that he is not a believer.
You will have to
read the book to find out if he does find her. A good read for people
interested in this sort of thing, I quite enjoyed the story, but would not want
to read any more by this author on a similar subject.
