Jodi Picoult - My Sisters Keeper

Review by showhost
This was the first book of Jodi Picoults that I read as it was ordered through our local bookgroup. We all enjoyed this thought provoking book.
Anna, at the age of 13, has undergone countless surgeries and transfusions but not because she is ill. Its because her sister Kate is ill ,she has Leukemia and Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate.
Anna has never questioned her role, she has accepted the surgeries as part of her life but Anna makes a decision, to stop being the human donor for her sister. Its a decision that will split her family and could kill the sister she loves.
I was absorbed in this book. It keeps you turning pages and you really feel for the characters, especially Anna. Its a moral dilemma. I found her style of writing took a little getting used to as she tells & retells the story from a different persons point of view. The ending was absolutely mind blowing. In fact one person who I had recommended the book to, had some 'friend' (loose term)who got fed up waiting for her to finish the book so they could go out on the bevy that she told her the ending!
The film of my Sisters Keeper is on the way & stars Cameron Diaz, & Alec Baldwin. Can't wait to watch it!
