Show today was shorter than usual. We had had 24 hours of fog and disrupted flights and my neice and her 4&5yr old daughters who should have been holidaying with us yesterday, had been fogbound at Manchester. They couldn't get another flight to Newquay until Sunday so my sister drove them down through the night to Newquay for their 9am flight to Scilly but unfortunately this too was cancelled due to fog. A last minute minibus taxi trip brought them and other passengers down to Penzance to get the Scillonian. So, I had to be there to meet them and get my cuddles, which meant curtailing the show.
My guests were Brian Lowen, Alison Crane (a first time guest)and Barbara Simpson. The books reviewed were a Geoffrey Archer, a Jeffrey Archer (confusing huh?)and Alice Sebold.
I was just going to say “It’s been a while since I have seen a Geoffrey Archer book, I read a few of his and enjoyed them at the time, especially Kane and Abel” and then go on a bit about Lord Archer when I realized that this is a different author and that Geoffrey is spelt different to Lord Archers Jeffrey. How confusing that must be for people and authors?
We will continue the show next week with same guests
book reviews , different studio guests each week. Join us every Thursday between 12 and 1pm on Radio Scilly 107.9fm or log on to radioscilly.com.
