Stephanie Meyer - Twilight series

Twilight is by stephenie Meyer, and is the first in a saga of 4 books

Its aim is teenagers, but I think like the jk Rowling books its good for all ages,

The book started from her dream, it was so vivid that she wrote it down in every minute detail, and chapter 13 in twilight is her dream, and she then wrote round it.
She had done a bit of writing before but nothing special & only for fun.

Every bit of the book is exceptionally well researched, the town of forks where it is set is a real place, and is the rainiest place in the Washington.

It grips you from page one until you turn the last page and makes you wants to keep reading the rest of the books. Each one explaining a bit more of the characters as you go along.

on the back of the book the synopsis', says -
when Isabella swan moves to the gloomy town of forks and meets the mysterious & alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn, with his porcelain, golden eyes, mesmerising voice & supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible & impenetrable, up until now he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
what Bella doesn't realise is the closer she gets to him the more she is putting herself and those around he at risk, and it might be too late to turn back....
deeply seductive & interestingly compelling , twilight is an extraordinary love story that will stay with you long after you have turned the final page.

As you get in to the book you can feel the fear, the tension and the sexuality hitting you as you read.
I also love the way that she's given vampires new life, they are not the usual can’t go out in the daytime, angel, Buffy type evil monsters,
the Cullen’s are different from others of their kind they are are vegetarians (not really but they don’t eat humans!)
whereas the other vampires do. Almost a good and bad type thing,
and you can feel that they are different. That they live in amongst the humans and are not allowed to get too close in case things should go wrong and then it would be bad for all the family,
but they can go out in sunlight, they sparkle in the sunshine like diamonds. (It’s almost trying to make the vampires sexy!)
really it starts off as a really lovely love story, but when she discovers that Edwards a vampire it all changes, but they’re love shines through all the challenges that are in the way and even when she’s crosses the lines and puts the Cullen’s in as much danger as herself and her family, Edward and his family are there to save her and rescue her from evil.

New Moon carries on from where twilight left off, Bella & Edward very much in love. Edward being a vampire, who saved her life from the evil James.

Edward & his family throw a party for Bella’s birthday at their house. But this is where disaster strikes and changes everything.
Bella gets a paper cut, and a tiny drop of blood drips down, then everything happened very quickly, Edward pushes Bella over the table onto the floor breaking a glass vase & cutting her arm, when she looks up there are 6 suddenly very hungry vampires staring down at her.

After the party Jasper who is the newest addition to the family, has to go away so that he can recover and not hurt her.
But Edward is so in love with Bella and not willing to hurt she anymore, decides to break her heart and leave too.
her whole world is Edward nothing else exists and she has a downward spiral of depression,
but she does seek solace in her friend from the res Jacob,

As in twilight when Bella discovers Edwards family secret, she soon discovers that the Cullen’s are not the only ones with a secret and soon she discovers the truth behind the wolves in the forest!!

Bella becomes a rebel because when she is doing something dangerous, she can here Edwards voice and this comforts her, that he does still care,
drawn between her everlasting love for Edward & that of her friend Jacob, when one needs help to save himself from death what does she do..............

Eclipse

The 3rd book in the series. By now we know all the characters

All of the Cullen’s and the wolf gang and even the volturi vampires in Italy.

But we are now getting in depth with the characters.

Bella has saved Edward from his own death in new moon. When he thought that Bella was dead and put went to the vampire gang in Italy to end it all.

With this experience there love is now stronger than ever and Bella is determined to become one of them and soon.

Nothing will stop her. But why is Rosalie so against having her as a sister in law.....??

We find out why, because she was violently raped by her fiancé and Carlisle saved her.

And she thinks that Bella is throwing her life away and not thinking about the future. I.e. getting married, having a family etc

Having to move on when people realise you’re not getting any older.

However Bella’s plans have to take a backseat when visitors to the area start being murdered and large animals are seen stalking the woods.

And she comes face to face with another vampire out to kill her for being a human in a vampire world!!!!!

Breaking Dawn

This is the last of the four books

Which I was really looking forward to and to be honest found really disappointing!

It’s almost like she thought about the next book and lost the plot a bit.

In breaking dawn Bella finally gets her wish to be immortal forever.

She marries Edward as a human and goes on honeymoon to a tropical island.

However from then on it gets silly, she gets pregnant (to a vampire!) and then the baby only takes a month to be born, breaking her ribs as its growing, and she only survives by drinking blood! There are no records of anyone ever surviving such a thing. And the baby eventually bursts out more like a scene from an alien film.

And renesmene is born and Bella has to be changed to a vampire to save her life.

It then feels like she goes back to the way she was writing again

When Bella is a new born vampire and everything is lovely again they have a house in the woods and all is well and they are are a happy family.



However the volturi are on the way having heard of a newborn vampire child who must be destroyed!

Will they have a happy ending??

I loved the first three books and I think she should have stopped at three or just made the final book shorter without the very very graphic baby scenes and birth! This to me ruined it.

There is a fifth book called midnight dawn, but it has not been published as it was leaked on to the internet by a friend.

And also has other books out including the host.

I hope you enjoy the series as much as I have. Well worth reading.
