Julia Green - Breathing Underwater

This book is also written for young adults. Its narrator is a 14yr old girl whose older brother has died in tragic circumstances. It is set in the Isles of Scilly, albeit thinly disguised as Main Island, St Ailla, Bryluen, etc., but of course instantly recognisable as the author uses real names for some places. This, and the fact that her parents apparently let a 14yr old travel from London to Penzance and onto Scilly are my only quibbles - the story itself is well written and the feeling of a summer on St Agnes is portrayed extremely well. any young person who is trying to come to terms with the loss of somebody close would, I am sure, be able to take some comfort from reading it. I enjoyed it and recommend it as a satisfying local read.
