Cormac McCarthy - Border Trilogy

Review by Steve Watt
Another best read for 2009 is Cormac McCarthy's 'Border Trilogy' - the great three books 'All the Pretty Horses,' 'The Crossing' and 'Cities of the Plain.' I re-read all three again this summer and it only confirmed what a great writer he is. In my view the most important American novelist since Saul Bellow and the late John Updike and he even challenges William Faulkner and Herman Melville as he tackles similar themes of myth, loss and redemption.
