review by Maggie Perkovic on show 15th April
When a beautiful blonde girl is found half drowned on a beach she has no memory of who she is or what horrors have left her there but an article about her in a Brighton newspaper rings alarm bells for beautician Dale who shows the police photographs of Lotte Wainwright.
The girls had met on a cruise ship and their friendship blossomed as they sailed the seas of south America until after Lotte has a traumatic attack off the ship, she later falls under the sinister influence of an older American couple. to her regret Dale hasn't seen Lotte since leaving the ship months earlier...but the girl on the beach although badly bruised, is indeed her much missed friend. where has Lotte been? Who is the man who wants to kill her?
This is quite an engrossing story with a story that develops in an exciting and frightening manner but for me the characters are a little too unconvincing and the plot also veers from the possible to the slightly OTT. The police almost too efficient, the nice people too nice and the villains beyond comprehension, far fetched also some of the activities. anyway, I have always hated pretty tremulous delicate blondes with a heart shaped face and eyes the colour of a blue sky, those sort of heroines went out with Barbara Cartland I thought!!!
