Peter James - The Truth

Peter James – Truth (The same author who writes the series featuring Roy Grace of the Brighton Police Force)

Brian Lowen reviewed but didn’t like this book (by one of his favourite authors) but as he was always saying how good this author was I thought I would try it. Like Brian I found it slow going and it took me to about page 120 to get into it, then I started little by little wanting to get back to it. In the end I did enjoy it even though I don't like the occult.

Susan and John Carter love each other and life is perfect but for one thing – they are on the brink of financial disaster, they are about to lose his business and their home. They had always said they did not want children but when they are offered a vast sum of money for Susan to be a surrogate mother to another mans child they feel sure that this will be the end to their problems and surely their relationship is strong enough to cope with it? But Mr Sarotzini is no ordinary man nor was he the father. Things go drastically wrong, their home/business/car is bugged and when Susan bonds with the child after its birth she is not willing to hand it over.
So what made the mysterious Mr Sarotzini choose Susan? Dunno, still dunno!
So, once I got into it an enjoyable read, far fetched at times but got me hooked eventually.
