A time-travel romance and historical fiction where the main character, Claire who is a nurse, goes on holiday with her husband after the war in 1945. She steps through an ancient stone circle to a pre-Culloden Scotland in 1743. She escapes being molested by her husband's brutal ancestor and is rescued by a group of Highlanders and meets with Jamie Fraser, a renegade from English justice. She is forced into marriage with him but adjusts to her changed circumstances using her nursing experience. It is an account of Scottish clan life. There are two further books in this series.
A book I really enjoyed.
