Rita Bradshaw - Dancing in the Moonlight

Review written by Maggie Perkovic & read live on the bookshow 8th Oct. 2015
I have never read this author before but it is a great page turner of a read.
As her mother lies dying twelve year old Lucy Fallow promises to look after her
younger siblings and keep house for her father and older brothers.
It is 1925, as the Depression starts to bite it affects those working in the Dockyards,
and everyone feels the pinch. Unless you are in touch with those who can give you
work you have to starve and the Fallows fall on hard times. Tom Arnold persuades
Lucy's father and older brothers to join him in breaking the law which means more
money but a terrible accident kills the father and one of the sons.
Lucy hates Tom Arnold but always enjoys spending time with his young brother.
Jacob Arnold is a hard working young man and he and Lucy hope to spend their
life together eventually , however a series of tragic events cause Lucy to take the
younger siblings and leave their little village to escape Tom Arnold's evil designs
but she leaves Jacob in a coma after a mysterious attack from which it is doubtful
he will recover.
The adventures following are both harrowing and uplifting and I couldn't put it down.
Highly recommended, I shall look for more books from this author.
Maggie Perkovic.
